81 People Die As Protests Continue In Ethiopia!

At least 81 people are dead, following a two-day protest in Ethiopia sparked by the murder of a popular singer, Hachalu Hundessa, from the country’s largest ethnic group.

So far 81 people have been killed, including three Oromia special police force members,” said Ararsa Merdasa, the Oromia police chief.

The protests began when thousands of fans gathered to mourn Hundessa, who was shot dead on Monday night while driving.

About 35 people, including prominent politician Jawar Mohammed, have been arrested, even as it isn’t yet clear why Hachalu was killed.

Akwaibomloaded news agent however gathered that two people have been arrested by the police in connection with the killing.

Prior to his death, Hachalu, 34, recently said he had received death threats.

His songs focused on the rights of the country’s Oromo ethnic group and became anthems in a wave of protests that led to the downfall of the previous prime minister in 2018.
