Ighalo: Why I retired from Super Eagles after 5 years

Africa Cup of Nations 2019 Golden Boot winner, Odion Ighalo, has revealed why he decided to quit the national team after just five years with the Super Eagles.

Reports emerged after Nigeria won the AFCON bronze that the former Watford striker has called it a quit but Ighalo Friday midnight officially opened up on his decision to quit the international scene.

In a post on his official Instagram and twitter handles, the Edo state born player explained why he decided to say goodbye.

“This is one of the most difficult career decisions I have had to take. It’s been an amazing five years journey but after due consultation and extensive discussion with my family, I’ve decided it is time for me to retire from the national team,” he wrote.
